Off the field accomplishments since 1992
- Increased the number of players in the program from 78 to 250
- Every year, between 50% and 75% of all football players participate in another sport
- Began holding a college information seminar in 1996. The percentage of seniors taking college placement tests has risen to over 90%.
- Instituted a leadership and character development program (Black Knights)
- 20 players a year assist with the Special Olympics Track Meet
- The coaches host a hamburger cookout for the GHS Special Olympians
- Successful Special Education students are recognized at one of the team lunches in the fall
- Instituted a "Reading with the Owls" Program in 2002 in conjunction with Freeman Elementary
- Participate in the "Reading Across America" Program
- Have had 3 players chosen Academic All-State
- The 1999 class valedictorian played football
- On average, over 65% of the players have taken an advanced class
